Harvestella Is A Cozy JRPG With Flaws
Harvestella has released just in time for those cozy, autumn farming sim vibes! But did you know that Harvestella is also a JRPG? Square Enix has decided to give a crack at a farming simulator with their own spin on it and the results are a lot more Rune Factory and a lot less Harvest Moon. Harvestella is set in a world where you can choose to cultivate your farm, chat up the locals, beat up some monsters in a dungeon, or choose to advance the story — it’s all up to you! Every 30 days, the seasons change and a new season has started to occur in the interim…

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life Could Be An Amazing Remake
In 2003, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life was released on the Nintendo Gamecube, and later in 2004 Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life was released as the female-character version of the game that brought a few bug and glitch fixes with it. Now, about 20 years later, these titles are being combined and getting a remake called Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life for the Nintendo Switch. Similarly, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town also received a remake through Story of Seasons in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch that merged both the male and female version of the game. The trailer shows that Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will certainly live up to a nostalgic remake,…

Rune Factory 5 Feels Incomplete and Nearly Unplayable
The initial release for Rune Factory 5 was delayed late last year due to COVID complications but finally released a year later on the Nintendo Switch! The big farming simulator games – Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Rune Factory – haven’t been doing so hot on the jump to the Nintendo Switch. Last year, Story of Season’s Pioneer of Olive Town was an unsatisfying dumpster fire while Harvest Moon’s attempt around the same time was similarly unenjoyable with equally horrible feedback and reviews. Rune Factory 5 has fallen in the same boat and it’s been made clear that the publishers for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory haven’t quite…

Shin Megami Tensei V…Better Than Persona V?
Shin Megami Tensei V is the first game I’ve played in the series, and I am enthralled with the apocalyptic universe that I’ve been dumped in to. This series is all about the darkness and cruelty of the world, offering a reminder that the odds are often stacked against humanity, caught between wars between angels and demons, and this addition to the series is no different. The Shin Megami Tensei universe is a desecrated world of despair and ruin, with plenty of challenging and unforgiving bosses, really cool demon lore, and you get the opportunity to recruit powerful demons to fight at your side using fusion and negotiation…at a cost!…

An FAQ For The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0 Update
The final Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 2.0 free update has been released and with this release came a lot of additional features and gameplay. Since there is an incredibly enormous amount of new content, I figured it would be a great idea to create a major FAQ page containing all that the 2.0 version update had to offer. So without further ado, here is a list of everything that is new, including how and when to unlock particular features and gameplay mechanics. #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons Direct 10.15.2021https://t.co/T1GXs2Kq2R — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) October 15, 2021 Shown above is a video of Nintendo’s version 2.0 trailer plus information about the…

Why I Will Continue Playing ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ After The Final Update
On October 15, 2021, Nintendo confirmed in their Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) trailer that version 2.0 update and its Happy Home Paradise DLC will be the final major update to the game that has sold over 33 million copies since its launch in March 2020. Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ version 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC will be the final major free and paid content updates, and apparently, it’s making plenty of players upset. What does this mean? Well, it means that Nintendo will (assumedly) not be making anymore content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, even though it’s their second bestselling game, right after Mario Kart with over…

Beginner’s Guide For Final Fantasy XIV
For new Final Fantasy XIV sprouts, and even newer players who have never played an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) before, all of the tasks and functionalities of an MMO can be incredibly overwhelming—I know, I’ve been there! But with any luck, this quick list of beginners tips in Final Fantasy XIV will help make the learning curve just a little bit easier. Additionally, Square Enix has trimmed the content in the first two expansions: Realm Reborn and Heavensward. The sprawling storyline has been reduced with some quality of life changes making progress easier and more efficient for new players. Beyond that, Final Fantasy XIV has the friendliest community of any…

Best PC Video Games for Couples
Single player is great and all, but playing games is even better with a friend or loved one, and usually makes for an amazing stay-at-home date night for couples! Multiplayer editions of video games are becoming more common these days but I still find the amount of cozy, couple-friendly video games to be nearly non-existent—most of them are a little too challenging and stressful for a sit-in date with your partner. I took to Google for some recommendations and I came up short with the results: instead of cozy, friendly co-op games, I found competitive MOBAs and other challenging or stressful multiplayer recommendations that didn’t suit my needs. I asked…

Exploring Rune Factory 4: Special
I’ve played the Harvest Moon titles since I was old enough to pick up a controller on the Nintendo 64, so I’m no stranger to the gameplay and the mechanics. Since the release of Story of Season’s 25th anniversary game was releasing soon, I wanted to find a game that I hadn’t played yet that would hold me over to its release. Rune Factory 4: Special was recommended to me by friends, and it was a pleasant, albeit unexpected and unique, surprise. Ultimately, I decided to pick it up over Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town since it looked like Marvelous really dropped the ball on their 25th anniversary…

The Power of Sustain in Bravely Default 2’s Combat System
Combat in Bravely Default 2 is a little different than what you may be used to—first of all, it’s turn-based combat, but the game also uses a Brave and Default mechanic that you may have never heard of before. In combat, you save up Battle Points (BP) by using “Default” (think of Default as a defense battle command), and once you’ve built up enough BP (2-3), you can use them all up to attack several times in a row using “Brave”. You could, for example, save up BP to string together a chain of up to four moves when you’re in a tough bind—use a Phoenix Down on a fallen…
